The Wedding of Maddy and Marcus took place in The Orlo House & Ballroom on a beautiful fall day in November. One major thing that stood out about Maddy and Marcus’s wedding day was the excitement and energy. As a result every guest at the wedding could not stop smiling from beginning to end, even Maddy and Marcus. Curating a film that represented that emotion was my main focus during the editing process.

The Orlo House & Ballroom has always been a venue I desired to film at, from the beautiful architecture to the downtown vibes. Thankfully for me our relationship started way before their wedding day! Every now and then I get to film a Save The Date video for my clients. Maddy and Marcus invited me along to their engagement session to capture a video as well. I thoroughly enjoyed capturing such a wonderful time in their life, the joy of their engagement. Having this one hour session was a blast, because I got to learn more about Maddy and Marcus outside of the fast paced wedding day.

A little history about these two, their first date was senior prom, talk about pressure. The story goes that Marcus showed up and asked Maddy to prom by bringing a box of wings to her door and saying “I’ve never asked anyone to prom before, so I’m just going to wing it”. The “just wing it” phrase has stuck throughout their entire relationship, hence Maddy’s mother referencing it in her speech. Marcus also crafted a fun way to propose around the time when Maddy was graduating. Marcus made a book telling the story of their relationship and presented it to Maddy on their favorite St. Pete Beach rooftop restaurant, little did she know there was a proposal happening as well.

The Orlo House & Ballroom venue has quickly become a favorite venue of Lens Culture Photo and Film. The modern and classic timeless beauty of the architecture combined with the Downtown Tampa Florida vibes brings all the wedding details together. Because of the location of the venue often I find capturing the couples portraits at local Downtown Tampa spots. There are a variety of unique locations to choose from; local parks, roof parking garages etc.

The vows, all the story for this film came directly from Maddy and Marcus’s vows. In my opinion the dialogue from the wedding day truly makes or breaks the film. While editing I leaned heavy into the emotional moments between Maddy and Marcus spent at the alter of the ceremony. Not to mention beautiful speeches given by their family members.
